Step 1: Installing the Elevator Control Horns
❑ Using a ruler and a pencil, measure out 3/4" from the inside edge of each elevator half, at the hinge line, and draw
a mark.
IMPORTANT
Do not measure out from the side of the fuselage. Measure from the inside edge of the elevator half.
❑ Position one nylon control horn onto the bottom of the elevator half, aligning the centerline of the control horn with
the mark you drew. The control horn should be perpendicular to the hinge line and the clevis attachment holes in the
control horn should be directly over the hinge line.

❑ # 1 Phillips Head Screwdriver
❑ Adjustable Wrench
❑ Wire Cutters
❑ Needle Nose Pliers
❑ Excel Modeling Knife
YOU'LL NEED THE FOLLOWING PARTS:
SECTION 20: ELEVATOR CONTROL SYSTEM INSTALLATION
YOU'LL NEED THE FOLLOWING SUPPLIES:
❑ Electric Drill
❑ 5/64" Drill Bit
❑ Ernst Airplane Stand
❑ Ruler
❑ Pencil
❑ (2) 755mm Nylon Pushrod Tubes
❑ (2) 2mm x 255mm Threaded Wires
❑ (2) Nylon Control Horns w/Backplates
❑ (4) 2mm x 25mm Machine Screws
❑ (1) 2mm x 20mm Machine Screw
❑ (3) Nylon Clevises
❑ (1) Nylon Pushrod Joiner Plate
❑ (2) 2mm x 10mm Flange-Head Wood Screws
❑ (2) 2mm Flat Washers
❑ (1) 2mm Hex Nut
❑ (1) Clear Tubing
❑ Using a pencil, mark the positions for the control horn
mounting screws, then remove the control horn.
❑ Carefully drill the holes for the mounting screws using a
5/64" drill bit.
IMPORTANT
Make sure to drill the holes straight down and not at an angle.
